Haydn's "St Nicholas Mass" contains beautiful soaring, flowing lines of music in the "Kyrie" and "Dona Nobis Pacem", contrasted with a fast and furious "Gloria" and "Et resurrexit". The "Et incarnatus" contains the most exquisite quartet for vocal soloists imaginable. The entire work is Haydn at his best and irresistibly delightful. Handel's "Laudate pueri dominum" is primarily a work for soprano soloist with choral movements. The soprano has very florid lines which express great joy and exultation and the choir join in for added effect beginning with a glittering number and ending with a magnificent "Gloria".
